Paper Ornaments I just love Christmas! Growing up in Scandinavia, I remember how in the days leading up to Christmas, we would all be busy making paper ornaments – a typical Scandinavian family tradition. Every night, my dad would collect all our handmade red and white woven hearts, and all-white eight-pointed stars to string them across the living room.
These paper ornaments stay strung up until Christmas Eve. That morning, my dad would put up a freshly cut Christmas tree in the middle of the room, and us kids will fight for the best-looking paper ornaments to hang.
What a sight the finished tree was! The vivid greens of the pine leaves, all littered with the striking reds and whites of the paper ornaments…that to me, is Christmas.
And if the colorful tree wasn’t enough of a treat, sometimes our woven heart baskets would contain surprises of candies, cookies and the occasional necklace (if I had been REALLY good).
I am so excited to share with you, our Scandinavian art of folding paper ornaments.
Paper ornaments products I have put together a box of DIY kit, complete with everything you need to make your own hearts! You will find glazed paper cutouts, complete with easy-to-follow instructions on how to fold a paper heart. Your loved ones will be amazed! You can also save your woven hearts in the sturdy box; in the unlikely event that you’d have any left. My paper ornaments always seem to disappear when my friends are around….Hmm…
And for you lazy ones who seek instant gratification, I present my hand-made paper woven heart baskets. All ready to go! You just have to send them. Can’t get easier than that!
Of course you will find my hand-made, pristine white eight pointed paper stars available for you as well. They come in two different sizes. And early next this year, I’ll be introducing the DIY kit for folding the stars. So, be sure to bookmark this website!
Also, should you need more glazed paper or some handicraft paper for your own projects, I highly recommend our Arts and Crafts Paper. These are the same glazed paper that we use at Ugly Duckli for all our paper ornaments. They are of substantial weight and excellent quality.
